Privacy policy
This policy explains how Taxtics (“Taxtics,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses and protects information submitted through this website and the Tax Defense™ diagnostic, including the pre-call worksheet offered to people who book a call. It applies only to this website.
What we collect
Information you give us.
- Your answers to the diagnostic questions, such as residency status, an income or exposure range, the kinds of assets or entities you hold, your current situation, your advisers and your timeline.
- An optional short description of your main concern.
- Your name, email address, optional phone number and country of residence.
- Whether you chose to receive marketing emails from us, and when.
- If you choose to tell us, how you heard about us.
- If you book a call and complete the pre-call worksheet: figures you copy from your most recent Form 1040 (for example adjusted gross income and total tax), your filing status, which schedules and forms were attached to or filed with your return, and a few counts (for example how many businesses or rental properties you have).
- Information you give our scheduling provider when you book a call.
Information collected automatically.
- Which step of the diagnostic you reached and the options you selected. Until you submit the final contact screen, this is not linked to your name or contact details.
- How you arrived at the site: campaign parameters in the link (such as utm_source), a referral code, the referring website, and the app you opened the link in (for example Instagram), based on your browser's identifying information.
- Aggregate, cookieless website analytics (pages viewed, approximate country, device and browser type). Private links to the worksheet and call briefs are removed from analytics before anything is recorded.
- Technical data such as your IP address, used briefly to protect the site against abuse and spam.
What we do not want
We never ask for, and you should not provide, Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, account numbers, passwords, or copies of tax returns or other documents. If long numbers, email addresses or phone numbers are typed into the free-text field, we remove them automatically before storing your answer.
How we use it
- To assess whether our services are a fit for your situation and decide the appropriate next step.
- To contact you about your request, including a preparation email if you book a call.
- To prepare for your call, including an internal summary of your answers and figures for the professional you will speak with.
- To operate, secure and improve this website and understand which channels bring visitors to it.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
Marketing emails
We send marketing emails, such as insights and updates about our services, only if you tick the optional box on the diagnostic's contact screen. The box is never pre-ticked, and not ticking it does not affect your diagnostic. Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us. Emails about the request you submitted, such as a preparation email after you book a call, are not marketing and are sent regardless of this choice.
Automated assessment
The diagnostic uses automated rules to suggest a next step: booking a call, a review by our team, or a determination that our services are not a fit at this time. This concerns only whether we propose a consultation. It has no legal effect on you and is not an assessment of your tax position. You may ask for a person to review it by contacting us.
AI processing
To help prepare for calls, your diagnostic answers and worksheet figures (with your first name and country, but not your email address or phone number) may be processed by an artificial-intelligence service provider to generate an internal summary for our team. The summary is not shared outside Taxtics and its service providers, and a person reviews your situation before any advice is given. The provider processes this information on our behalf under terms that do not permit it to use your information to train its models.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers that operate this website and our business on our behalf, including website hosting and analytics, cloud document and email services, call scheduling, and AI processing. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Professional advisers, auditors and insurers, under a duty of confidentiality.
- Authorities or other parties where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Taxtics or others.
- A successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of our business, subject to this policy.
How long we keep it
If you become a client, your information becomes part of our client records and is kept as our professional and legal obligations require. Otherwise, we keep diagnostic and worksheet information only as long as needed to respond to and follow up on your request, and generally no longer than 24 months after your last interaction with us, unless the law requires a longer period. Aggregate analytics that do not identify you may be kept longer.
Security
We use encrypted connections, access-restricted storage, and private links that expire. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, which is why we limit what we ask for in the first place.
Where it is processed
Taxtics is based in the United States. Your information is processed and stored in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate. Where the law of your country requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email support@taxticsinc.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
California residents. In the past 12 months we have collected the categories described under “What we collect” (identifiers, financial information you choose to provide, internet activity, and inferences about whether our services fit your needs) for the purposes described above, and disclosed them only to the recipients listed above. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
UK and European Economic Area residents. We process your information to take steps at your request before a possible engagement, on the basis of your consent for marketing emails, for our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and operating our business securely, and to meet legal obligations. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children
This website is intended for adults and is not directed to anyone under 18.
